SPECIAL NOTE for the DS-K170HPK

This reader comes with two PIN modes: 4-bit burst (default) and Wiegand.  A clamshell card accompanies the reader package with words "Wiegand Keypad Data Mode".  This is used to toggle the reader between two modes.

If PIN entered does not even show up in iVMS-4200 but card scan does, it is likely due to PIN format being accidentally toggled.  Follow instructions in the sheet manual, power cycle the reader, and scan the Data Mode card once to toggle it back to 4-bit burst and try again.

For PIN code format to be enrolled, see Step 7 of the Preferred Method below.

Other readers such as DS-K1107MK or DS-K1104MK will work without the above changes.

SPECIAL NOTE for the DS-K170HPK

If using the DS-K170HPK, the PIN code will likely display as a "card number" of the PIN entered preceded by some zeros, making up to 8 digits.  This can be found on live event pages of iVMS-4200 or Hikcentral.  For example, when the user presses "1234#", the live event/ will display a "card number" of "00001234".  This needs to be the exact card number manually enrolled to the person, complete with the zeros.
